It's something like Menu-Enter-Enter-Menu per waypoint, so you can move right along. But Garmin wisely remembers your last choice in the menus, so you can get into a button rhythm to do it relatively quickly. I couldn't find any option to select multiple waypoints for the deletion step, so you have to do it one-by-one. + Edit the duped route by deleting all the waypoints above the split point. + Edit the original route by deleting all the waypoints below the split point. + Find a waypoint in the middle of the route that will be the split point. I forget the exact sequence but you basically highlight the route, press "Menu" and it gives you the option to dupe. If this happens in the field and you can't delete enough waypoints to keep under the 50 limit and maintain the route integrity, there is a workaround to split the route into two on the unit: For this (and to check if the 60 routed differently), I try and always activate a route after transferring it to the 60 and make sure it looks Okay. It is insidiuous because MapSource will be happy as a clam with the route, auto-route it fine, and transfer it to the 60 w/o complaint, but when you try and activate it, you're screwed. I ran into the 50 via point limit recently. The 50-point limit for follow roads routes really hasn't been much of a problem for me in real-world usage. I kept all of the track points, just split them up into 500-point tracks instead of 700 like Mark had. If you have the same files he sent me, you will have to modify the tracks so they have less than 500 points each to fit in the 20 saved track slots of the 60CSx. You will navigate from one point to the next-you won’t get lost as there are plenty of via points to keep you on track."īetween these direct routes and the tracks you shouldn't have any problems. You can have these softwares loaded into your GPS alright-you just won’t be using the auto-routing (stick to the roads) function. "I wouldn’t try to use the garmin “Navigator”, “City Select” or Metroguide software to modify my routes into a route that sticks to the roads-as some of the roads on that software are not thru routes and they won’t work. Direct or "off-road" routes can have 250 waypoints (at least, might be 500 in this unit?). Rusty, Mark never meant his routes to be used as "follow roads" anyway.
